Madina Habibi’s story is a testament to the transformative power of education. Arriving in the United States from Afghanistan with her family, Madina faced numerous challenges, but her determination to succeed led her to a path of remarkable accomplishments. Upon her arrival, Madina was guided by a case worker to Greenville Literacy Association (GLA). Embracing the opportunity, she enrolled in ESL classes at GLA. Despite the initial hurdles of adapting to a new language and environment, Madina found joy and enthusiasm in her classes, attributing her positive experience to the supportive and engaging instructors and staff.
She quickly tested out of ESL, transitioning from ESL to GED classes was a daunting step for Madina. However, with the support of her dedicated instructors, she overcame the challenges. Their guidance and encouragement fueled her determination, making the transition smoother and instilling in her the confidence to face any obstacles in her way.
As she embarked on her GED studies, Madina began an internship with GLA, marking a transformative phase where she not only pursued her academic goals but also dedicated herself to giving back. Madina discovered a profound sense of support within GLA, recognizing the invaluable role that GLA played in molding her educational direction.
The next chapter in her academic journey led her to Greenville Technical College. Initially anxious about the testing process, Madina’s fears vanished as she successfully passed her exams. This marked the beginning of a new chapter as she embarked on her dream of pursuing a career in Dental Hygiene. Today, Madina Habibi is an inspiration, showcasing how resilience and determination can lead to incredible achievements. Her journey from ESL classes at GLA to pursuing her dream in Dental Hygiene is a testament to her spirit and the support she received along the way.
