What Is The Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale?

It’s a massive new and gently used book sale to help raise money for the Greenville Literacy Association’s drive to improve adult literacy levels in Greenville County. There are tons of books at the sale – fiction and non-fiction, modern and classic, hardbound and soft cover – all at ridiculously low prices.

Enjoy bargain prices on a quality and diverse selection books. With over 130 categories and 125,000 books, there will be something for everyone.  Re-stocking of the sales tables takes place hourly all day long.

How big is “Really Big?”

The 2013 Really Good, Really Big, Really Cheap Book Sale was a huge success:

  • Funds raised: $102,000
  • Preview Party: $16,000
  • Bag Sale: $12,500
  • Books sold: 99,000
  • Attendees: 12,000
  • Total Volunteers: 583

      As we get in books, we sort, price and store them. We don’t sell books all year long. I’m not sure what your timetable is, but here are the dates for our book sale this year:
      Friday, August 15 Preview Party 5:30-8:00, $35 person/$60 couple, RSVP Required (RSVP Page will be up at a later date)

      Saturday, August 16, Book Sale 8:30-4:00 – Free Entry, 7:30-8:30 $10 Early Bird Entry

      Sunday, August 17 Clearance Bag Sale 1:00-4:00 – Free entry, fill a bag for $10

      You will be able to drop off books at donation locations, such as Bi-Lo, starting in June. However, you can always drop-off your books at our McAlister Square center. You can call the main office at (864) 467-3456 for more information and for assistance with unloading books. The hours to drop off books during the week are Monday-Friday, 8:30-4:30.

      Yes, you will be able to purchase books in a setting that is much less hectic and crowded.

      You will not be able to get a receipt at any of the business or church donation locations. You will need to take your donations to one of our learning centers in order to receive a receipt.

  4. For the clearance sale on Sunday, do we bring our own bag or are they provided. If we bring our own, can we bring more than one?

      You will be given a bag at the sale they are $10. If you fill up that bag, you will be able to purchase another for $10. See you Sunday!

  5. I am a first year teacher in need of children’s books (preK and kindergarten age). Will those age-related books be at this sale as well?

      Yes! There will be a large section dedicated to children’s books. We get a lot of teachers at our sale each year.

      Preview Party is open to all ages. If you want to indulge in beer or wine, we’ll follow the law and you must be 21 and up.

      We have over 130,000 books this year and an autobiography section. It’s a huge possibility that what you’re looking for is at our sale!
